Web Strategist Jeremiah Owyang, Sr. Analyst at Forrester, compiled posted some data on Social Networking sites (Facebook, MySpace, Reunion).

Some that stand out to me:

  • FACEBOOK: More than half of its users are OUTSIDE of college
  • FACEBOOK: The fastest growing demographic is 25-years old and over.
  • MYSPACE: 1 in 4 Americans have a presence on MySpace.
  • MYSPACE: 85% of its users are over 18.
  • REUNION: Of its 32 million members, 90% are over the age of 25.

Some good stats on international use here as well.

As one commenter points out, there is probably an overlap - users who are members on multiple sites, but still…

Many business owners here in the Midwest still consider Social Networks a fad (huh?) and something for the kiddies (future customers!!)

Good stuff, J.O.  Thanks for sharing these numbers.
